30th Annual Leadership 100 Conference Concludes with a Resounding Musical Tribute to Greece

The 30th Annual Leadership 100 Conference, a virtual event, which ran from February 17-19, 2021, concluded  with a resounding musical program, Greek Music for the Greek Revolution, 1821-2021, organized and introduced by Nektarios S. Antoniou, Artistic Director and Senior Advisor for Culture of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, which was applauded by hundreds of participants, according to Argyris Vassiliou, Leadership 100 Chairman.

The program, on Friday afternoon, February 19, opened with a heart-warming performance by the Archdiocesan Cathedral School Choir and included stirring renditions of Greek classical and contemporary music performed by Les Vibrations Sympathiques, conducted by Pavlos Kordis, pianist; the acclaimed Polis Ensemble; Soprano Eleni Calenos, accompanied by  virtuoso pianist and musicologist, Dr. Athanasios Trikoupis; violinist Dr. Giannis Zarias and the Frog  String Trio and Violin Orchestra; Mode Plagal; and singers Charis Tsalpara and Erini Ziogala, ending with the Ss. Cyril and Methodios Choir performing a sing-a-long Greek National Anthem. The music was accompanied by the showcasing of artistic works by master painter and iconographer Dr. George Kordis, and photographs and prints from the collection of The Treasury NYC. read more

Dear Friends of our National Shrine,

We are excited to announce the unveiling of the new website of the Saint Nicholas National Shrine. There have been many updates and a refreshed look and feel. We are hoping to attract many more visitors to this new site, and increase not only support for the Shrine, but begin to expand in earnest the awareness of the public about the Shrine and its truly global importance.

As Archbishop Elpidophoros said, the Shrine “will be a tremendous missionary witness in our Nation.” For this reason, all the various facets of the Shrine will have to be explicable and intelligible for the public. read more

HC/HC Receives Two Million Euros from Greek Government

President George M. Cantonis announced that Hellenic College/Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology has received a restricted gift of two million euros ($2,388,000) from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America that was given to them by the government of Greece for HCHC.

President Cantonis responded to this extraordinary gift by saying, "We are profoundly grateful to the government of Greece and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. We are also most thankful to His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America for his tireless efforts on behalf of the College in this and so many other matters.” President Cantonis further stated that, “This gift allows us to take a huge step forward toward securing our financial stability and viability while also strengthening our ties with the people of Greece.” read more

HC/HC Classes to Continue Online for Spring Semester

In a letter to the Hellenic College/Holy Cross community, President George M. Cantonis announced that, considering the growing COVID-19 pandemic, the campus will not reopen for the spring semester and all courses will continue to be taught remotely. The Administration “had held out hope that we could welcome everyone back to campus for in-person classes, worship, and fellowship…and we have explored every avenue for turning that hope into reality." read more

Hellenic Bar Associatin of Illinois Honors John Manos at 2020 Virtual Scholarship Ballrade Center


The Hellenic Bar Association Foundation (HBAF) honored as Hellene of the Year, John G. Manos, President of Bank Financial, philanthropist and youth advocate, who is a member of the Leadership 100 Board of Trustees,  at  its virtual Scholarship Ball on November 7.

In honor of the foundation’s 70th Anniversary, the theme of this year's Ball was Continuing the Legacy, highlighting distinguished Greek Americans who have contributed in a significant way to the preservation and advancement of Hellenism.  During the event, HBAF awarded $60,000 in total to six law school students. read more
